Spring Break

Adam at the park

I was a lame-o and didn't take many pictures, but we had so much fun last week during Spring Break, going on outings with friends and enjoying the nice weather. Monday, I worked in the yard for the first time this year (it desperately needed attention, and still does, actually, but it felt good to at least get started), while Audrey and Adam played outside with Jarom and Alessa. Audrey, especially, thinks it's such a treat to play with Alessa during the week, since Audrey's in school in the mornings and Alessa goes to school in the afternoons, Audrey's really been feeling deprived. They had so much fun playing together that Bethany invited Audrey and Adam over on Tuesday. That was great for me, as I was able to get a lot more done around the house without the kiddos underfoot! Tuesday night I had a great girls' night with Traci, Laura, Jen and Sally - it's always so fun to get together with the girls and catch up! Wednesday, we missed the outing to Chuck E. Cheese (though I heard it was a total zoo, so I'm over it), but we were able to meet up with Kori and her kids in the later afternoon and let the kids play at Arctic Circle and back here at the house. Our kids have a great time playing together and really get along well. Thursday was arguably the highlight of the week - can you say IKEA trip? I've only been a handful of times since it opened here, so it's still fun to go and just look around (though I did a little more than "just look," to the tune of about $100)! It wasn't crowded at all, so I got to drop Audrey off at the childcare and take my time looking around. Adam was really well-behaved (though I still have high hopes that he'll be able to go to the childcare next time, too - we're making some headway on the potty training!) I couldn't get ahold of the girls on the phone, so I just shopped a bit, then went to get Audrey and go upstairs to eat. When the elevator doors opened, there was Jen! So I did get to see my friends, and we all had lunch together. I can never resist the Swedish Meatballs - they're practically an institution. Friday morning, I was supposed to go to book club at Traci's, but ended up actually reading the book during that time instead, and showed up after book club was already over (oops!). The Road was the book of the month, very intriguing and a fast read, albeit a bit depressing. I'm feeling rather well-read, though, after Traci informed me it was the winner of the Pulitzer Prize in 2007. Overall, I'd definitely recommend it. Anyway, I showed up too late for book club, but we went to the park and the kids had a ball playing all afternoon, while we chatted until Heidi showed up with Jamba Juice - what a great treat! Saturday culminated in cleaning out the garage (not a thrill, but very necessary), working a bit in the house, and a fun BBQ next door. All in all, it was such a fun week - thanks for all the outings and get-togethers, everyone!
