All of my decorating friends, help me! You know I'm challenged in this area. We're redoing the bedroom situation at our house - taking down Adam's crib that's gone unused for the past 4 months and officially giving him the full-size bed (that he's been sleeping in for the last 4 months) that was formerly our guest bed. We will no longer have a dedicated guest room (since the majority of our former guests have moved to the area within the last year), and Adam will vacate his room and sleep on the trundle of Audrey's bed when we do have guests. The former guest room will be a dedicated toy room. So, I'm looking for a bedding set that will make the full bed feel more like Adam's (the lavender gingham and flowers aren't going to cut it). I found this one, gently used, for a great price and really like it. What do you think? My only concerns are if I should look for something a little more mature, since it will be used by guests on occasion (this weekend, for instance), or if I should get something Adam really likes (he told me, "I don't want a monkey bed, I want a truck bed!") Does he get the final say in this decision? Then, assuming I do go with the monkey set, how do I decorate the rest of the room? If you don't like the monkey set, I'd love for you to post some alternatives that you think would be good.

I LOVE the monkey set. Are the walls a matching blue? It looks like it from your picture! If so, I would keep this bedding until he is in the bigger boy phase---he will grow out of trucks, trains, monkeys, about the same time, so just keep this until it is time for bigger boy stuff (in my opinion)! I am not the best decorator, so I don't know about the rest---I might get some IKEA curtains in a matching green, make it sorta' a tropical feel---LOVE it!
I LOVE it!! It is so cute for a little boys room. Target has a bunch of cute monkey/ stuff right now. Gavin's room is a jungle theme and I have been snatching up some cute finds.
go with what you got if you already bought it, but i would keep the monkey stuff on the bed, since he's already mentioned he doesnt want a monkey bed,(and just go with blue gigham for lamp shades for lamps and plain bookshelves, and so forth) also an option would be to get a plain comforter and put the monkey quilt at the end of the bed, so you can take off the monkey if you want when guests come...all in all i think the monkey quilt is cute, you could also put the pillow (the little one with the monkey) on a bookshelf or a chair to tie everything together.hope that helps?
oh wait green gigham since your walls are blue, that would be better, and a hanging shelf with some books, maybe jungle themed? cute!!!
Hey Jenny...I have loads of ideas I've collected lately...Pottery Barn Mags I use for idea etc...They have a boys teen room section I think is awesome for littler boys too.
I like to do more solids or stripes for boys room or a plaid and then I add the novelty to just the sheet sets. That way the part that gets worn(sheets) can be replaced easier as a child out grows a desire for say..."Monkeys" or you could put a solid color sheet set on for company really easy. However, I think you have really good taste. The Monkey Quilt is cute. If you -do go with the monkeys...navy blue on the walls would be cute or a tan brown color....a wood book shelf and stuff would add to a jungley feel too. Hey...Parade of Homes is coming up! I think once kids toys are in the room and books...it gives a novelty theme by itself and as the toys change the feel of the room changes with it...Come next door and I'll show you some idea pictures. :) A lot of things would even go with the monkeys!
