Throughout my life, I have been blessed with so many wonderful friends. I am lucky enough to still be in contact with some of my old friends, a few from college days and even a couple from high school. Lucky is the appropriate term here, as it is not my doing that keeps us in contact. Not that I mean to lose touch with people, it just sort of happens. One day turns into the next day, and suddenly, it's been months, and then years, and then I kind of realize I might never talk to someone again, someone who once was such a huge part of my life. It's kind of depressing, actually, but it does make the continued friendships that I have all the sweeter.
I have only a few friends that I'm still in touch with that I've known longer than I've known Rochelle and Matt. I've known them for over 8 years now, and I love that we can get together and things are still pretty much the same between us. We laughed our heads off and acted goofy, but we also enjoyed some serious talks. We all have a deep appreciation for really good food, and we savored an authentic Italian pizza at Settebello in SLC, but the next night, dined on Taco Bell. We played cards, shopped until we dropped (ok, the shopping was girls only), blasted our favorite songs in the car, cooked a meal, watched Conference, and had a pillow fight. I had a ball this weekend, but I know that even if we'd sat around all weekend and just talked, I would have had an equally great time. There's just something about being around somebody who's known you so long, you can say just one word, and everyone busts out laughing. I love being around people I care about so much I just feel like telling them how great I think they are - and at the same time, they're telling me how great they think I am! Old friends are seriously the best. I wish we saw each other more, but I know if we did, I wouldn't appreciate it nearly as much.
I need to give a shout out to 2 of my other great, old friends I saw this weekend - Mindy and Brett. I didn't get to spend as much time with you as I did with Matt and Roch, but I love you just as much, and it was so fun to see you as well! We got to watch Brett tear it up in basketball, watch conference and a movie with him, and have one of those great "drive around in the car and spill your guts" chats with Brett. So good to spend some time with him before he moves away next month! With Mindy, we did a Girls' Night during Priesthood session. In deference to the children, we went to Arctic Circle and let the kids play on the playground (us and every other mom in UT County, it seemed like!) So much fun to sit and chat forever! I'm glad I get to see Mind a bit more often - she's just the best!
All right, cheesiness over. However, if you're an old friend of mine and you've come upon my blog, drop me a line. There's just nothing quite like shared history.

I feel the same way about "old friends." We have some that we have know for about 10 years and it is always a blast when we get together. It is exactly the way you describe it. Busting out laughing with one word, serious talks, on and on. Thanks for remindin me the value of "old friends."
Okay girl---I love ya, and I almost teared up when I read the memories of our lavish and convivial weekend together. Cheers to a tremendous amount of fun, recollection of old memories, tasty eats, newfound autonomy (for me), unstifled spending, fanatic laughter, and good old-fashioned fun!
PS don't tell me if my malapropticness is showing--it is my MO! (is that a word?)
On another note--who let me out of the door with that cleavage?
Oh I forgot to say that I love ya! :-)
