Double Dipping

It's not often we get to celebrate 2 holidays in one week! Audrey had parties at school on both Monday (St. Patrick's Day) and Friday (Easter). To celebrate here at home, we had a green breakfast, and "the leprechauns" dyed all the liquids they could get their hands on green. They were a little negligent, though, and had to sneak out and do it while Audrey had her back turned. She was amazed they were able to turn the toilet water green (after she'd flushed) without being caught. It was pretty fun.

Speaking of double dipping, one of the best parts of having both sides of the family local to us is the fact that we get to celebrate major holidays twice! Saturday was spent with Jared's family, having an Easter Egg hunt, setting up a jungle gym, enjoying a yummy lunch, and celebrating Alene's (and Mareena's, though she was only with us in spirit) birthday(s). We had a lot of fun, though the mood was a bit subdued due to the passing of Jared's grandfather on Friday morning. We are so grateful for the time we were able to spend getting to know him a bit better over the last 6 months, since he and GG moved here from Indiana. We will miss him, but are so thankful, especially at this time of year, for our knowledge of eternal families and resurrection. When I told Audrey that Great-Granddad had died, her first question was, "When will he come back alive again?" I'm so grateful that she knows that he will live again, and that the Savior has made that possible for all of us.
To ensure equity in the egg disbursement, we lined the kids up from youngest to oldest and let the youngest children get a head start. We really needn't have worried, there were more than enough eggs to go around, and most of the children were limited by the size of their baskets, not their ability to find eggs! (front to back: Noah, Adam, Sara, Clarissa, Rylan, Audrey, Paige, Bree, Colby)

I'm thinking Adam was pleased with his haul.

David and Adam have taken a page from their dads' books and have started the gaming early.

Easter Sunday was perfect. The kids slept in a bit, then woke up and checked out their baskets and had a leisurely breakfast. We went to church, came home and gathered up our various and sundry accoutrements and headed up to SLC to my parents' house. It felt like it had been a long time since we'd seen them (though my mom pointed out that they'd had dinner at each of their daughters' houses each Sunday in March, and we'd been together 3 out of the 4 Sundays) and it was fun to see them again (they just returned from a trip to Phoenix to see Julie and Matt). I had quite a bit of food prep left to do for the salad and asparagus I brought, so I set to work. I had such a good time working in the kitchen with my mom! Dinner was fantastic - I'm thinking German Potato Salad needs to be served more often than just Easter. We had quite the spread with enough food to feed an army. After dinner, we had two egg hunts - the candy-filled egg hunt for the kidlets, and the money-filled egg hunt for the adults (a long-standing tradition in the Scott family). We also had a little FHE where mom helped the kids recount the Easter story and they did lacing cards with different scenes from Jesus's life. This was the first Easter we had with James being home, and it was just fun to all be together. Mom spoiled us all and put cute little Easter treats together for everyone - she's the best!

I can't believe the only pictures I have of my kids on Easter are of them wearing yesterday's clothes (we got home pretty late on "Easter Eve" and kids were already asleep - we put them to bed in their very dirty clothes rather than messing with jammies) or covered in chocolate. If Laura can get adorable pics with her 5 kids, including 3 3 and under, I should be able to get them with my 5 and 2 year olds! What kind of a parent am I?!

Audrey is thrilled that the Easter Bunny brought the movie "Enchanted"

Adam, checking out his new truck playset.

After church, enjoying the spoils.

Adam was really excited about the egg he hid (the kids hid the adults' eggs, with a little help from Grandma and Grandpa) by burying it in the dirt.

Love how the leprachauns managed to get the toilet to flush green. The Easter line of kids is so cute, and I love Audrey's beautiful long dress with the flowers on it. (Where did you get it?) Just for the record, know that I have to take about 200 pics to get a couple good ones, it is probably not worth all the effort, but I just love to take pics! Your kid shots are fabulous, and your kids actually enjoy the holiday instead of having to sit on the same seat while Mom tries to get a good pic.
