Sugar High

That would be me, not the kids. Although, let's be honest, they're probably both on one as well. We had a really fun Halloween. Audrey was so excited to wear her Belle costume - she'd been waiting for months. Adam was not so enthused to don the Beast costume (basically, the same lion costume that Audrey refused to wear the year she was 2, dressed up with a navy blazer to coordinate with Audrey's Belle costume - it was actually quite cute!). So, as we had to do the year Audrey refused to wear the costume, we came up with the most costume-like thing he was willing to wear, which ended up being his Lightning McQueen "Cars" pajamas. I've officially sworn off planning out costumes. What can I say, we're more "go with the flow" kind of people.

His lack of a true costume didn't impede the candy haul, however. Here's the proof:
That's just Adam's stash. Audrey actually got a bit more (it took Adam a little while to catch the whole trunk or treat vision). He put it all in that dish himself, too. Funny kid.

Audrey was so excited to dress up as Belle, it actually started the night before as we were watching "It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown" - I put her hair up in sponge rollers to get that curly princess look. Here's the after - Audrey in her costume, ready for her school party. As you can tell, her hair doesn't hold a curl all that well:

After school, Michelle and Maddy came over and we made Mummy Pizzas for lunch:

We had trunk or treat over at the church, then headed up to Grandma Jane and Grandpa Larry's to do a little old-fashioned trick or treating (not much of that goes on in our neighborhood due to the trunk or treat). The kids absolutely loved it! They ran from house to house, squabbled over whose turn it was to ring the doorbell, and gleefully announced "Trick or treat!" and "Thank you!" at each house. There were a few homes that were really decked out with decorations and the kids got a kick out of that. I wore my pirate costume and was even offered treats at a few houses myself. I resisted all except the king-size Snickers from LaRae Rasmussen - she offered a treat to me, and I just felt like I was my 10-year-old self again! Good times! The kids really had a ball - they are at such fun ages to do this stuff. As Audrey declared several times while trick-or-treating, "I just love Halloween!"
