The REAL Mothers' Day

Not that I don't enjoy the Hallmark Mothers' Day in May, but nothing brings that sigh of relief quite like the first day of school. I'm not a pro at this, by any means - this is only my second year of having a child in ANY type of school, and she's still just in preschool 3 times a week - but MAN, it felt good to drop her off this morning. Don't take that the wrong way! Admittedly, it was a little bittersweet - especially thinking that this is her last year of preschool - just one more year, and I'll be sending her to school every day, and one more year after that, and it'll be all day, every day - time is really flying! However, as much as I strive to be, I'm not great at self-imposed routines. School is great for forcing us into more of a routine. Audrey was so excited to go back, too. She's been talking about it all week. She was a little reticent when we first got there, but about 1/2 the kids in her class were also in her class last year, so that helped. Adam, on the other hand, would have been thrilled if I'd let him stay for class. I don't think he would have even noticed I was gone. He was NOT happy to leave Audrey behind - he's going to miss his playmate on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings!

I can TOTALLY relate. I love my kids, but I CANNOT believe how much easier it has been for me since Brandon started school. It probably also has to do with the fact that he doesn't get home till around 4 pm; making for a long school day! I am loving the routine that school brings back to my life also, Laura
