Weekend Update

I had a great weekend, with a visit from my college friend Rochelle and her friend Linda, who came all the way from Washington to attend a session of General Conference at the Conference Center. We had a great time visiting some of their favorite Utah places (Cafe Rio, Pudding on the Rice and Shopko) on Friday and seeing some favorite Utah friends (the Webers) on Saturday. Saturday morning, we enjoyed a delicious breakfast of waffles with buttermilk and/or apple cider syrup, fresh whipped cream, and a variety of fruit. I'm thinking I'll be catching up on the Saturday AM session in the Ensign as, between eating breakfast, visiting a bit, and wrangling the kids, the bit of Conference I managed to sit and watch went amazingly fast! Saturday afternoon was a little quieter, as it was just our family (that was the session Rochelle and Linda went to see), and it was in the middle of Adam's naptime. I really loved Elder Wirthlin's talk, both for the message he gave, and for the sacrifice he made to make sure his message was delivered. It made me sit up and listen a little more intently to the rest of conference, knowing how important it was to the speakers to be able to give their messages. Saturday night was fun; we played Tarot (a French card game, not the evil cards) and Settlers until the wee hours of the morning. Sunday was fun, though more low-key, with Conference and visiting until Rochelle and Linda had to leave for Boise. The weekend was a success, filled with good friends and good food - who could ask for more?!

The gorgeous flowers Rochelle and Linda gave me to thank me for "letting" them stay here - as though their company wasn't thank you enough! ;)

How did you like the apple cider syrup? Good, huh? And the buttermilk syrup is the best! Just like a Scott to hone in on the food, eh? Anyway, Conference was great! My fave talk was Pres. Eyring's.
