After a nearly 2 month hiatus, I'm back! I started running earlier this summer, but took some time off due to both busy-ness and laziness (how's that for an interesting juxtaposition?). I've been walking Audrey to school 3 times a week, so I'm getting some exercise in there, but haven't gone this week - Monday she was sick and today I was watching a neighbor's little girl. I've been scared to go back out running because I was sure I'd be starting from scratch, as far as fitness goes (since I'd gone so long without running). The lack of any other exercise this week, combined with some shaming from a friend in the ward who asks me if I'm still running whenever I see her (and I saw her yesterday) gave me the much-needed kick in the pants to get back out there. I loved it! I wasn't nearly as out of shape as I thought I would be, and was pretty much able to do my entire regular route. Admittedly, I did feel like I was going to die from a nasty sideache much of the time, but I kept going! I actually think I did better on the hills, probably because I tackle some pretty steep hills when I walk home from dropping Audrey off at school.
Just to set things straight, I use the term "running" loosely. Don't even bother to ask about my pace, or my mileage. It would probably be more accurate to say "jogging," but I like to think of myself as a runner, even if I'm not yet all that good at it. I'm working on it, and enjoying myself along the way! I'm surprised how good it makes me feel when I'm out there, pushing myself to work harder and enjoying the beautiful morning. It's good to be back!
